The Acoustic Research Institute (ARI) in Vienna is a pioneer in fundamental psychoacoustic research. To meet their needs regarding the simulation of acoustic scenes in a lab, we designed and installed a compact hemispheric 3D audio system with 95 discretely controllable, coaxial loudspeakers and four of our d:24 amplifier units in a 12 RU rackspace.
To research unexplained phenomena of human hearing, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has built the Audio Visual Immersion Lab (AVIL) in Copenhagen. We designed and installed for them a 72-channel 3D audio Higher Order Ambisonics (HOA) system located inside an anechoic chamber. 64 KEF coaxial speakers ensure perfect sound and three d:24 amplifiers create noise-free amplification in a space-saving 9 RU.
A crucial part of the research focus of the Brain and Mind Institute at Western University is to study human behavior and cognition in real-world environments. With the Virtual Acoustic Space, the institute has a four-dimensional facility that helps neuroscientists to understand how human brains process sound. We were commissioned to design and build this system that includes a geodesic dome with 91 speakers.
Real Life Lab

Being able to test hearing aids and hearing aid algorithms in more realistic environments than was then common in audiological research, led Sonova to build the Real Life Lab. A total of 136 speakers on 5 levels, four subwoofers as well as 6 of our d:24 amplifiers are used at the Real Life Lab. Sonova consulted us regarding the audio set-up and technical implementations of their research facility.
sonible was founded in 2013 by three graduates of a pioneering audio engineering program offered jointly by the University of Music and Performing Arts and the University of Technology in Graz. Today, we are a company with 20 employees who strive daily to enable human expression and interaction through sound.
